Safeguard Your Living Space With EMF Shielding Paint

Step 1: Preparing to Paint

Before applying Safe and Sound RF-ECO EMF Paint, ensure the surface is primed or painted with a non-oil-based paint. This step is essential for proper adhesion.

Because the EMF paint is conductive, it must be grounded in accordance with electrical regulations by a licensed electrician. Begin by placing a grounding strip, such as the GSX10 or GSX50 Grounding Tape.

The GSX Grounding Tape is a double-sided conductive tape, and can be applied either before or after painting. For bedrooms, we also recommend adding an additional extra layer of protection with our Swiss Shield Naturell Bed Canopy.

Next, decide where the grounding plate will be installed—typically near an electrical outlet. Start with the first grounding strip (the longest in the diagram), then add three shorter strips in the plate area: one horizontal and three vertical. These provide extra adhesion and support for the grounding plate, which will be explained further in Step 3.

Note: Grounding does not affect the EMF paint’s ability to shield against high-frequency EMF/RF radiation. However, it may help reduce exposure to low-frequency electrical fields. Results vary and are not guaranteed.

Step 2: Painting

Apply the EMF shielding paint as you would any standard wall paint, using a tray, roller, and brush. Make sure to cover all exposed areas completely.

Important: Leave about 2 inches of space around electrical outlets. Because the EMF shielding paint is conductive, it must not come into direct contact with outlet boxes or wiring.

We recommend a minimum of 2 coats for effective protection. Allow the EMF paint to dry for 24 hours before testing its shielding performance.

Step 3: Grounding & EMF Shielding

For every 8 x 8 ft wall section, use one GS2 Interior Grounding Kit. If walls are connected within this surface area, one grounding plate per room is sufficient.

Grounding plates must be installed by a licensed electrician.

Finally, always verify your shielding results using a Safe and Sound Pro II RF Meter to check for EMF and RF “leaks.”
